Classic literature by women

I love classic literature, especially by women. You can learn a lot about the times (my favorite are books from the 19th century) and the role of women in those times. The only reason I was skipping "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte was its length. I don't mind reasing 600+ pages but if you try to read a book every two weeks then that kind of pagecount is definitely discouraging.
I started reading it a few days ago though and I love it. I love to know how we as a gender have progressed (or not) in terms of education, politics and in society. On one hand I get to appreciate how lucky I am and to be grateful for the opportunities I'm getting. On the other hand it makes me more critical of current issues (which I'm trying to get more involved in).
I don't think I'm going to be able to finish this book in two weeks. I just have a lot of other work to do and I need to socialize because I won't see my grandparents very often.

But I would love for you to recommend me a classical lit book if you were really impressed by one.
